Your first dive
The first visit is short, friendly and mostly about getting to know each other. Here's exactly how it goes.
Step by step
The whole visit, start to finish
Plan on 45 to 90 minutes. We'd rather move at your child's pace than rush them out the door.
2. History & X-rays
We review dental and medical history forms and take digital X-rays if they're indicated.
3. Pick a land
Reef, harbor or barnyard — your child chooses the room, and a cartoon goes on overhead.
4. Clean & polish
One of our hygienists cleans and polishes, then the doctor checks for decay and gingivitis.
5. The plan
We walk through the X-rays with you, build an individual treatment plan and answer every question.
6. Prize counter
The finale. Nobody leaves without stopping at the prize counter.
When to start
As soon as that first tooth shows up
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first visit by six months after the first tooth erupts, or by the first birthday — whichever comes first.
How to prep your child (the honest version)
- 🫧Stay positive. Kids read adult nerves instantly — skip the scary stories and the word 'shot'.
- 🫧Show them photos of the themed rooms and let them pick a favorite before you arrive.
- 🫧Tell them the doctor's job is to count their teeth and keep them strong.
- 🫧Bring a comfort object if that helps. Nobody here will think it's odd.
- 🫧Let us know ahead of time if your child has had a rough dental experience before.

Two visits a year
The ADA recommends a checkup and cleaning every six months to catch small problems while they're still small.
